You can compress files on the fly by adding the extension for the
type of compression you want (.Z, .gz, .zip). If you use .zip, or .tar.gz or
.tgz on a directory it will pack up and compress the entire directory.
Example to get file edu30.tu56 gzipped use get edu30.tu56.gz.
If you are using netscape you will need to use something like
ftp://ftp.pdp8.net/images/os8/edu30.tu56.zip

This site is connected by a 128kbit upstream DSL modem. Please don't try to
