Features
Several new features, most
noticeable ones in the search functionality. We have added highlighting of the
keywords in the search results, and improved Simple search logic. The simple
search will now first look for an exact match of the entire phrase, then match
of all keywords (but not together) and then for separate keywords. The
administrator can also determine which link fields to search in. Last, but not
least, end users can now select if they want to search for links in the entire
directory or current category with and w/o subcategories. All of this can be
found on the new screen in admin.

"Forgott Password" -
Users, who forgot their passwords can have them re-genereated and sent to their
email automatically.
- "Email verification"
at registration: the first time a user registers, password can be sent via
email, thus making sure that the address entered is valid. The user can change
password later using "Profile"
- Duplicate Links Check has a Mass
Delete option, allowing either to delete all copies of a duplicated link, or
pick & choose, same way pending does.
- Duplicate User Email Check
allows to search for all users with duplicate emails. The users are then
displayed in the usual user screen, allowing the admin to modify and delete
them
- Admin may use the LINK_ID tag in
the email message. This enables admin to include a rating sample HTML code in
the email confirming link addion. Simply copy-paste getrate.tpl into the email,
and upper-case the LINK_ID tag.

- Multiple domain pointers will
not cause "not licesed" error on the user front. Admin can still only
be access from the main, registered domain

- Links check engine has been
re-written to use sockets instead of fopen. We have seen some performance
increases and were able to avoid timeouts. Some links still take time at the
DNS level. There is a socket timeout, however PHP 4.0.6. has a known bug that
disables it. Other versions should be working fine.

a link is referenced in more than one category, you can choose to display all
instances or only one.

When the link owner edits his/her
link, only the changes become pending, not the entire link. So if admin or
editor does not approve the changes, the original link remains in the database

In-link now runs on MySQL, PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL. You can specify the
database type upon the installation.
Multiple editors support. Similar
to the open directory project functionality, the administrator can now assign
editors to individual categories. Editors can perform administrative tasks only
within the assigned categories.
Fully utilizes the features and
performance of PHP4. Some sections of the code have been optimized and compiled
for improved performance.
Front-end user language support.
The front-end users of In-link can now choose their language preference for the
entire system and have their preference stored in cookies for future use.

Improved user sessions. In-link
2.1 features new and improved user sessions based on both GET method and cookies,
compatible with infamous Internet Explorer 6. The administrator now has control
over session expirations and various session controls.
In-link distribution now ships
with 9 different language sets and enhanced templates.
Search engine friendly. In-link
2.1 has improved spidering capabilities by search engines. The system links now
includes less parameters providing for better search engine indexing
capabilities.
Easier registration and
installation. The new version has an improved installation script and a
smoother registration process eliminating a lot of hassles.
