Verlag Glückauf Essen
Listed in the Essen business register as a limited
company, Verlag Glückauf was set up in 1918 as a publishing house
specializing in mining literature. The companyłs staff of 28 produce
mainly technical and scientific publications on a variety of
subjects, with the focus on mining, energy and raw materials,
geotechnics and tunnel construction, environmental protection and
mining and energy-related legislation.
The
companyłs range of products includes: - Technical
journals (Glückauf mining magazine, Felsbau rock mechanics journal,
geotechnik and others), some of which also appear as international
editions.- Specialist books, including the Yearbook of the
European Energy and Raw-Materials Industry, various conference
proceedings and collectorłs editions. - Loose-leaf editions,
geo-economic maps and charts and a range of hand-made porcelain
pieces.- Electronic publishing products, including a CD-ROM
version of the Yearbook.
VGE Å‚s activities also include a mail-order
business, which for a number of decades has operated an in-house
publishing service for the supply of books, loose-leaf editions and
periodicals from home and abroad. GlückaufÅ‚s mail-order department
mainly delivers to corporate customers, schools, universities,
libraries and other client groups. VGE also has its own courier
service for deliveries within the Ruhr area, using either
established providers or the normal postal service. For
