Image Number 74 - Liver, alcoholic cirrhosis
The increased amount of connective tissue is clearly visible. The Masson's stain colors the connective tissue a bright green as seen at arrow 1. Arrow 2 indicates an area of macrovesicular fatty change.hepatocytes in a nodule. Arrow 3 highlights an aggregation of hepatocytes in a nodule. Fibrosis with regeneration of hepatocytes in nodules is the hallmark of cirrhosis. This form of regeneration results in an architecture which is non-functional and lacks the appropriate lobular structure seen at the histological level.
