You will need 10 quill the following:
Heart - thirty one-cighth-strip S-shapcs - rwo one-cighth-strip pegs Petals — twency-fivc onc-cighth-strip closcd coils Flower cf.ntres - fivc onc-cighth-strip pegs Leaves - scven one-cighth-strip leaf shapes
Making up thc design
The GREETING To make the greeting on this card I have used the Victorian craft of papcr pricking. First of all, tracc thc shapc of thc heart and thc greeting on to a piece of tracing paper. Scribble over the greeting on thc right sidc of thc papcr. Place thc traccd pattern ovcr thc back of your card front and tracę again the back-to-front greeting. You should be left with a elear outlinc of thc lettering. Using a pin, prick along thc linc of the greeting. working from thc back. You will end up with a raiscd greeting on thc front of your card. Now scribble over the heart shape on thc back of thc tracing papcr. Place the paper on to your card, lining it up with the greeting already pricked, and go ovcr thc shapc lightly with a pencil - you will end up with a lighi outlinc guide.
The QUILLED design When attaching such things as S-shapcs to thc card I usually put a littlc glue on to a piccc of baking parchmcnt, pick up thc shapc with twcezcrs, dab it into thc glue (bcing carcful not to pick up too much) and then place it on to thc card. Start with rwo S-shapcs to form thc top of thc heart and then place a peg beneath thern to givc thc top point. Follow round with S-shapes until you come to thc bottom, which should again be two S-shapcs mccting. Place a peg beneath them to make thc bottom point.
Make up thc flowers on thc board, place them in position on thc card and, when you arc satisfied with the arrangemem, glue them down. Atiach thc lcaves.
