At the church gale the Fool makes his iraditional speech ofwelcomc to the waiting crowd. To make the speech he stands on an old mounting błock known as the Mowbray Stone. This translates as: House against House, Town against Town, if you meet a man, knock him down but don’t hurt him.)

The Lord then leads his offtcials and the people to the highest ground in the village where the Boggins form a large circle. He then calls on a distinguished visitor to throw tlie first “hood" in the air. The gamę is played by locals, allhough anyone can ioin in.
