Platę 9 Scene from mass baptism, 1468, Flemish/Burgundian

The lady on the left is wearing the characteristic form of the gown without its belt, and the straight neck edge of a kirtle can be seen beneath. The gentleman at centre front is slipping off a fashionable lined gown with little fullness, revealing a tight, high-waisted doublet. This is out away at the front and has a contrasting collar and puffed sleeves. The joined hose is tied to the doublet well below waist level and the codpiece is just visible. The man seated on the right of the font is having his hose removed. These have striking zigzag seams at calf level, and stirrup feet. Points for tying the hose to the doublet hang from the hose waist.
