Olfactory stimuli are delccted by the nervc fibers of the olfactory epithelium and conveyed to the olfactory bulb (detailed local cir-cuitry shown in upper lott panel). Integrated signals pass along the olfactory tract and centrally diverge to pass to the anterior commis-sure (some eflerenl projcctions coursc to the contralatoral olfactory bulb. blue lines) or terminate in the ipsilateral olfactory trigone (olfactory tuberde). Axons thcn project to the primary olfactory cortex (piriform cortexj, entorhinal cortex, and amygdala.
