Yongtai New Town

The plan creates a lively development that will activate the northern suburbs of the Guangzhou metropolitan area. The development complements neighboring cultural, recreational and commercial projects contained within the recently formed South I^ke National Tourist and Vacation District of Guangzhou. These include the New Orient Theme Park; Asia Movie City; Commercial and Trade City; the Comention Center; the International Exposition Center; the Mountaintop Scenie, Tourist and Vacation Center; the zoo; and the Baiyue Cultural Village and International Park.

The conceptual plan gives the development program with a sequence of buildings, spaces and public amenities that will result in a harmonious environment. A hierarchy of streets, pedestrian walkways, and open-space amenities provides variety throughout the plan. A naturalistic, meandering park along the banks of a winding stream creates critical links between the urban core, residential areas, and the activity of the town center’s piazza and formal lakę.
