A PLAIN white frame is perfect for displaying this retro design - or you could get a plain frame and paint it

a bold shade to f it in with this season’s trend for bright błock colours - a great contrast to the white evenweave.

...or making it into a pretty bolster cushion

STITCH your f inished design on to a shop-bought cover for a boister cushion or make your own using a piece of fabric sewn into a tubę shape.

Bolsters tend to be f irmer than most cushions so make surę you stuff it well! Add a button to the centre of each flowerasafinishingtouch.

“Floral designs are as classic as they come. From the earliest stages of needlepoint history, blooms have been a constant source of inspiration for stitchers and designers alike.

One of my favourite classics is the Cottage Garden, often used in Victorian times and a popular choice for 1960s craft magazines. Finished examples are timeless, like the one I found recently for £7, which hangs in my studio (below).

For this month’s project, however,

I used memories of my grandma’s kitchen in the 1970s. She had a set of pans and matching Pyrex plates, with a similar floral motif. Their bold design and colourful character appeal to my love of retro, which is also on trend at the moment!

So whether you’re a fan of the delicate or the bold, there’s surę to be a blowsy bloom that appeals to your tastes. Happy stitching!”
