Desk Set
You will need smali and large wooden hexagon-sfaped boxes; 11 'A" x 10" x 2" wooden lap desk;
$01*" x 33A" wooden basket; primer; black, blue, n, coral, dark brown. dark green, dark yellow,
;n. orange. pink, purple, red, teal, white, and yellow flic paints; paintbrushes; V«" and 3A" fiat brnshes; raracrylic sealer; black permanent fine-point pen; •free transfer paper; and tracing paper.

LRead Painting Designs. pages 93-94. Add black cks to the sides of the box lids with JA" fiat brush. rlarge box, add a little white to green paint and brush the basecoat for a mottled look.
Measure in 'A" aII the way around outside edge of hpdesk; mark linę with a pencil. Use 7*" fiat brush ►paint black checks around outside edge. Measure f above hinged joint; mark linę with pencil. Use Ifflat brush to paint black checks between drawn ineand joint. Basecoat area between large and anall checks black.
IRead Transferring Patterns. page 94. For smali Htracę, then transfer flower pattern on page 43 to pand lid. For large box, tracę, then transfer garden jEtern on page 46 to box. For lap desk, enlarge sun tern, page 46, 154% on photocopier. Tracę, then iferonto area of lap desk below hinges. Transfer rer pattern on page 43 onto area of lap desk above 'S, repeating pattern as desired. For basket, tracę, transfer house pattern on page 46 to front of ;et.
iint flowers on smali box in desired colors. Paint Uwercenters yellow and leaves green. Add a smali lite highlight on each flower. Paint fence on large boxwhite. Add dark green vine and flowers in
fśired colors.
For lap desk, paint flowers in desired colors. Paint tm area with a mix of white and a little yellow. Mix in swe yellow and shade around cloud and sun. Mix in tore yellow to paint alternating rays and shade around sun's eyes and nose. Shade bottom of dark 8vswith orange. Paint curved rays with a mix of white. ellow. nd orange. Add red to the mix and shade e:h ray where it meets the sun. For the face of the im. add dark yellow eyebrows, red lips, and lybrushed orange cheeks. Paint the eye areas white. id blue irises. black pupils, and a white highlight on ech pupil. Use coral to add a linę underneath and on eoutside corner of each eye. Use dark yellow to fctline bottom of nose.
7. For basket. paint sky yellow mixed with white.
Use orange mixed with white to shade around house, trees. bushes, and grass. Paint house white and roof red. Paint window frames green and windowpanes black. Paint door teal; mix teal with white and paint edge of door. Paint chimneys white; drybrush red. Add' a bit of dark brown to the red; paint bricks. Paint tree trunks brown. Basecoat trees. bushes, and grass green. Drybrush grass with white to highlight. On bushes and trees, mix dark green with green and drybrush right side to shade; mix white with green and drybrush left side to highlight.
8. Outline all designs with permanent pen. Apply sealer to boxes, lap desk, and basket.
Covered Boxes
You will need cardboard boxes with lids, assorted fabrics, assorted ribbons, spray adhesive. multi-surface craft glue, and Mary Engelbreit flower punch-outs.
1. For each box, measure the height of the box; add 3". Measure around the outside of the box; add 2".
Cut a piece of fabric the determined measurements.
2. Spray a smali section of fabric with adhesive. Centering box, place box on fabric; wrap excess to bottom and inside of box. Continue spraying and wrapping smali sections of fabric to box, foiding raw edge of fabric 'A" to wrong side before overlapping beginning edge. Clip excess fabric at corners.
3. For lid, repeat Steps 1-2 using lid measurements and a contrasting fabric.
4. Cut a length of ribbon to go around lid plus I".
Use adhesive to adhere ribbon to edge of lid, foiding raw edge 'A” to wrong side before overlapping beginning edge.
5. Glue punch-outs to box as desired.
