Starting Position: P: Lying on left side; right upper arm slightly abducted and extended. but not medially or laterally rotated. T: Standing behind P.

Grip: T's right hand grips P's upper arm just above the elbow. T's left forearm (or. if preferred. a firm. round cushion) is placed in P's axilla.

Fig. 23 a. Starting Position.

Procedurę: Using this grip. T pulls against P's upper arm while pivoting at the axilla and gradually and fully adducting the arm behind the back.

Stimulation of Antagonists: T retains grip. T then asks P to move further in the direction of stretching, and resists that movement to stimulate P’s antagonists.

Notę: The deltoid, acromial part is also stretched in this procedurę.
