The techniąue can be varied in design by making occasional rings. In practice, it is morę convenient to simulate a ring by looping a chain back on itself (joining again to the same picot), than to work a true ring, because it is easier to judge the size of the 'ring' in this way.

The techniąue can be varied further by turning unnecessarily in mid row and pro-ceeding in the opposite direction.
