Only in one case was it possible to obsen e a layered fili of a burial pit. Possibly, the layer of light grey soil in grave i of MC with particles of charcoal, deposited at the bottom comprising the remains of a coffin — or, what is morę likely — the result of a two-stage process of filling in the burial pit. In the first stage, the body of the deceased person was covered with humus and charcoal, and only later — with soil mixed with loess (Fig. 3:B, 4).

Copper artefacts

From grave 1 of MC in Książnice, four copper artefacts were obtained (two earrings, one triangular fiat narrow piąte and a piece of wire).

The earring, presened in its entirety (Fig. 13:Bi, 14:B), has the shape of a smali open ring, measuring 24.6 mm x 26.3 mm. One of its ends is narrowed (sharp), and the other one — slightly rounded. The diameter of the wire of which it is madę ranges between 1.2 and 0.6 mm. The preserved piece of the other earring (Fig. 13:B2, 14:C), measuring: 25.4 mm in length and 1.9—1.5 mm in the diameter of the wire, has one of its ends visibly hammered. The width in the place where it is hammered is 3.5 mm. Both artefacts belong to type A after the typology proposed by Jerzy’Tomasz Bąbel (Bąbel 20i3a, 127). While, the earring presened in its entirety' belongs to type A.2. The closest analogies come from graves 71,I53and 182 on site I in Mierzanowice (Bąbel 20i3b, 107, Figs. 137:13,174, Figs. 237:18:189, Fig. 256:3), as well as from grave 23 on site I in Wojciechowice (Bąbel 20i3b, 224, Fig. 290:13).

The copper piąte, measuring 74.2 x 3.9-1.0 x 0.5 mm, was found near the right femur, in a group of pendants madę of boar tusk and bonę beads, which were the remains of a belt (Fig. 13:63). The artefact, due to its shape, resembles a straightened earring, but it is dif-ficult to point out an analogy for it.

In close proximity of the piąte, there was a piece of delicate copper wire, bent in the middle and round in cross-section (size: 22.5 mm in length, and 1.1 mm in diameter, Fig. 13: B4).

Flint artefacts

Altogether, from graves 1,2,3 of MC come 22 flint artefacts. They represent the following categories:

1.    Arrowheads — 10 specimens.

2.    Flakes — 4 specimens.

3.    Blades — 1 specimen.

4.    Splinter flake — 2 specimens.

5.    Chips — 3 specimens.
