Image Number 038 - Myocardial infarct, neutrophilic infiltrate

This represents the time from twelve to seventy-two hours post M.I. A neutrophilic infiltrate is seen surrounding the myocytes. Note that nuclei are absent from the remaining myocytes, yet their cell borders remain intact and the cells are filled with a strongly eosinophilic material. This is the characteristic pattern of coagulative necrosis.
