Starter Strip
A Starter Strip can be used to make starting
Peyote projects easier. Once the Starter Strip is
made it can be used over and over. The example is
for a short Starter Strip Create yours as long as

you desire.
Color separations make counting easier.
Use this side when project uses predominately Light colors.

Use this side when project uses predominately Dark colors.
Using the Starter Strip for a Project , size = 23 beads (12 for row 1, 11 for Row 2).
WASTE thread: one that be will removed. When removed, the project separates from the Starter Strip
.
I suggest using Power Pro 6 to 10 lb for the waste thread, It is harder to pierce. Or use a thicker thread
like D Nymo. When creating large projects used multiple WASTE threads (so they can be pulled out).
While weaving the 2nd row to the project piece take care NOT to pierce the WASTE thread. Piercing the
WASTE thread will make it nearly impossible to separate the project piece from the WASTE thread.
Pattern Row 1= 12 beads Row 2 = 11 beads
These beads are part of your project, watch pattern for correct color placement.
Working Thread,
leave a 6-8 tail.
Stop bead is optional.

Tie on a STOP bead to
the end. Leave end long
enough to grab so you
can pull this thread out.
Row 1: Red thread path = WASTE thread. Add the 12 beads (one at a time, working left to right) and then
exit starter strip as indicated. Cut WASTE thread, leave a tail to grab for removing this thread.
Row 2: NEW THREAD, now use your normal needle/thread. DO NOT weave through any beads in the
STARTER STRIP Leave a 6-8 tail. Insert needle/thread through the last BLUE bead added for row 1
.
(marked X), from right to left. *Pick up a bead for row 2, insert needle through next BLUE bead *
(marked O). Repeat to end.
After 6 to 8 rows have been added, pull out the WASTE thread.
