During the lite of the book, it is amended as necessary by NMs published weekly in Secłion IV of Admiratty Notices to Mariners. A check-list of all extant Notices, but not the text, is published quarterly in Part 1B of Admiralty Notices to Mariners. The fuli text of all extant Notices are published annually in January in NP247(2) Annual Summary of Admiralty Notices to Mariners - Amendment to Sailing Directions.
These amendments will normalty be restricted to those critical to the safety of navigation, and to information reąuired to be published as a result of changes to national legislation affecting shipping, and to port regulations. It is recommended that amendments issued in this way are cut out and pasted into the book. Mariners may, however, prefer to keep amendments in a separate file, and annotate the text of the book in the margin to indicate the existence of an amendment.
