A finite deformation formulation for dynamie analysis of cable nets is presented. Lagrangian coordinates and Piola-Kirchhoff stresaes are used and elasto-plastic materiał be-havior is considered. Under assumption of straight cable elements and a displacemant field varying linearly along the element, global equat»ons of motion are established by referring the ditplacements to an inłtial configuration. These equatk>ns are linearized for iterative computation of the equi1S>rkim configuration and for determining the ełgen-freąuencies and moda shapes of the lineer vibration of the net about its equilibrium configuration. This analysis is performed by means of a Computer program that can a na ly ze netsanchored in fixed points.

Continuum nonlinaar equetk>ns of frea motion of a heavy elanie cable about a deformed inłtial configuration are deyeloped. Referring to en atsumed moda technlque ona ordinery equatk>n for the cable plener motion is obtalned via a Galerkin procedura, an approximate »lution of which is pursued through a perturbation method. Surtable non-dimensional results are presented for the vibrations in the first symmetric modę with differant values of the cable proporx\9t.

Key Words: Cables, Chains, Rewiews

This paper is a review of cable dynamics. A historical back-ground is foliowed by sections containing literatura reviews of the formulation of the problem and of linear dynamics. Effects of elasticity on the linear dynamics of an eiastic cable hanging between two points at the same level are stressed.

This pepar presents a method for solving wave propegation probierni of an infinite bar of arbitrary cross section with a circular cylindrical cavity. In the analysis the exact solution of the wave equations ba sod on tha thrae-dimansional theory of elasticity which satisfies the boundary oonditions of the inner circular cylindrical cavity has baen utilized. The boundary conditions of the outer arbłtrarlly shaped surface of the bar ara satisfied by usa of tha Fourier expansion colłocation method. The analysis darives tha frequency equatkm for determining the phase vek>cities of the bar of arbitrary cross section with the cavity. As an axample numerical calculations have been carried out for an alliptical cross-section bar with a circular cylindrical cavity.
